Short version: FindBachata does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, or any personal details to browse, and does not sell data. If you contact us, we use your contact details to respond, manage listings, prevent abuse, and keep business records. We do use third-party analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. The longer version is below.
Who we are
FindBachata (findbachata.com) is operated by DevMellio. For any privacy question, use the contact page.
What we do not collect
- We do not require accounts. There is no public sign-up.
- We do not ask for your name, email, address, or phone number to browse.
- We do not intentionally collect health, medical, insurance, payment-card, or government-ID information.
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not run advertising networks or behavioral ad targeting.
How we use your data
We use personal information only for the purposes below:
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve FindBachata.
- Respond to contact requests, listing requests, corrections, partnerships, and support messages.
- Review, verify, correct, publish, or remove event listings when you ask us to.
- Prevent spam, abuse, scraping, fraud, security incidents, and service overload.
- Measure aggregate traffic, search quality, outbound clicks, and feature reliability.
- Operate AI-assisted search when you choose to use the chat feature.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and preserve records needed for legitimate business purposes.
We do not use contact-form submissions for marketing emails unless you separately ask to receive that kind of communication.
What we do collect
We use a small number of third-party services to keep the site running and understand how it is used:
Contact form submissions
If you send us a message, we collect the information you provide: first name, last name, email, optional phone, Instagram handle, message subject, message text, submission time, and basic anti-spam metadata such as source IP and honeypot/timing fields. We use this to respond to you, verify or correct event listings, manage partnerships, prevent abuse, and keep business records.
Google Analytics 4
Aggregated, anonymized traffic analytics: which pages you visit, how long you stay, what country you are in (city-level at most), and what device / browser you use. GA4 sets cookies in your browser. Data is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
CloudFront + AWS
Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) are kept temporarily by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention. We do not use them for marketing.
Browser local storage
The chat-style search keeps your last 24 hours of conversation in your browser’s local storage so it survives a refresh. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it from your browser settings or by using the “Clear” button in the chat panel.
AI chat queries
Questions you type into the chat are sent to our backend for processing and to a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate the answer. To improve the assistant, we retain the question, the answer we returned, and which event listings it referenced for up to 90 days. We strip obvious contact details (emails, phone numbers, social handles) from this text before storing it. We do not associate these records with you: there is no account system, and we do not store your IP address or any per-person identifier alongside them. Because they are not linked to any individual, we cannot retrieve one person’s records on request; everything is deleted automatically after 90 days. We also keep a limited operational log of the question text (redacted, no answer) for up to 12 months for security and quality monitoring.
Site search
When you use the keyword search, we retain the search terms, how many results were shown, and which listings matched, for up to 90 days, to understand what people look for and where our listings fall short. The same redaction and no-identifier rules above apply.
How long we keep data
- GA4 analytics: 14 months (Google’s default).
- CloudFront logs: 30 days.
- AI chat questions, answers, and referenced listings (anonymized): 90 days.
- Site search queries (anonymized): 90 days.
- Operational chat logs (question text only, redacted): up to 12 months.
- Local storage chat history: 24 hours, in your browser only.
- Contact requests: kept as long as needed to respond, manage listings, prevent abuse, and maintain business records, unless you request deletion and we no longer need the record.
Sensitive information
FindBachata is a dance-event directory, not a medical, therapy, insurance, or patient-communication service. We do not ask for health information. Please do not send medical histories, diagnoses, injury details, insurance information, payment-card numbers, government IDs, or other sensitive personal information through the contact form or chat.
Children
FindBachata is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Bachata events listed on the site are operated by their respective organizers, who are responsible for their own age policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for at least 14 days.
