Bachata socials and festivals operate on rotating-partner etiquette: leaders and followers swap throughout each song or class drill, so single dancers are the norm rather than the exception. Plan to arrive 15-30 minutes before the start time. Azul Beach Social usually opens for warm-up and informal practice before the formal lesson begins. The social portion at most Bali bachata events runs at least 2-3 hours after the class wraps, so come planning to stay — peak energy on the floor is typically the second hour of social dancing.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move freely in, and shoes with smooth soles so you can pivot without sticking. Dance sneakers, jazz shoes, or leather-soled dress shoes all work; gym sneakers grip too hard. Bring water and a small towel — bachata is a contact dance and one hour of dancing is the cardiovascular equivalent of a 5K run.
